Emerald is a simple shift dress or top that offers comfort in the summer heat. Envision it with sandals and a hat on hot days, or layered under a warm sweater or cowl as the seasons change and the days turn cool.
The garment comprises four main panels and is finished with facings, highlighting the elegant V-shaped neckline and a curved hem. Pockets or a sash can be added to the dress version (optional).
For maximum comfort and wearability, choose lightweight fabrics with drape to allow the bias-cut design to conform to your body. The center seam allows for some fun pattern play if you use striped or patterned fabric, or becomes a beautiful design feature on a simple solid fabric.

Materials required:
-
woven fabric (see yardage chart below for amounts*)
-
1/2 yd (0.5 m) lightweight fusible interfacing
-
coordinating thread
*note: to fit on 44" wide fabric, sizes 4 and 5 will need to be cut slightly off of true bias. We recommend tilting each piece 30 degrees from grain — this is shown in the cutting diagrams — rather than 45 degrees (true bias). Be sure to rotate each pattern piece the same amount!
