This glamorous early 1960s ivory twin set is a real tribute to Jackie Kennedy's iconic signature look during this era. The brand is Carol Brent, a deeply popular ready to wear brand from America's first ever mail order company Montgomery Ward. The set is comprised of a sleeveless dress and a cropped faux fur trimmed jacket with 3/4 length sleeves in sateen brocade fabric with a swirl motif. The dress has a shallow scoop neckline and is beautifully tailored with princess seams and carefully articulated darting on the bodice to enhance the bust to waist ratio. The straight cut, knee length skirt fits snugly over the hips to create a tidy hourglass silhouette, with a central zip fastening at the reverse. The matching jacket is absolutely exquisite and fitted beautifully at the waist, fastening with a central button stand at the reverse with 5 oversize fabric covered buttons. There is a round neckline and the front of the jacket is subtly embellished on either side of the waistline with petite fabric bows. The faux fur trim on the cuffs emulates the effortless chic and glamour of this coveted look to perfection. In wonderful vintage condition, this lovely set would fit up to a US size 4, UK 8. An excellent choice for vintage bridal wear.
NOTE - the photos display the back of jacket with the poppers open. When worn these should be closed to give a neat, flush, tailored finish.
